"Wells of Water"

I want to speak to you in this message about 5 kinds of wells.

"Cisterns that can hold no water". Is like a person who has not the indwelling Spirit of God.

Jeremiah 2:13- "For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water."

(1)- The problem.
"Ye have forsaken me".
God told the Israelites Ye have forsaken Me and that they were like broken cisterns that can hold no water. Water is symbolic of the Sririt of God and many people in Churches today are like broker cisterns without the indwelling Spirit of God! They have never been born again and they don't understand what the preacher is talking about when he mentions spiritual things. They are going to burst Hell wide open unless they get the broken cisterns mended and get them filled with living waters from the Lord!
God's living waters can quench the thirsty soul of mankind and provide satisfaction for his spiritual needs but It seems like we are always refusing God's way and replacing it with our way which leads to a thirsty soul with out Christ. Many false religions are sending their followers straight to a devil's hell.
2-Peter 2:17-
"These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever".
If God destroyed those who refused him in Noah's day and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha because of their corruption; don't expect him to overlook your sin!

(2)- The prognosis.
God's judgment is on the way.
2-Peter 2:4-
"For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;"

2-Peter 2:5- "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;"
2-Peter 2:6- "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly":

2- Peter 2:9- " The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished".

(3)- The Provision.
Mend the broken vessel.
Until you mend the broken cistern; it will never be able to hold the Spiritual refreshing from God and you can't mend it by your self. You need to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins so there will be room for the water of life. You need to ask Him to come into your heart to live forever and He will fill you with LIVING WATERS.

Proverbs 16:22- "Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly."
(1)- Folly when understood brings repentance.
"Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it";

(2)- Fools love folly.
"but the instruction of fools is
The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. How many times have we offered
God's saving grace to someone who thought we were foolish and refused to even talk about their eternal destination. They will still be saying, "It is folly" when they stand before almighty God and hear Him say, I never knew you and cast them into a lake of fire where they will spend an eternity without God or His Son.

John 4:11- "The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?"

(1)- Doubt damns the soul.
The woman at the well  doubted that Jesus had the means to help her.
"Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the WELL IS
(2)- Doubt questions the source of redemption.
From whence then hast thou that LIVING WATER"
You see Jesus had offered her living waters that would quench her thirsty soul and fill her with His spirit for all eternity but doubt kept her from seeing anything but carnal reasoning. Many of us are in the same category as the woman at the well. When are we going to lay aside our doubts and fears and trust God to save us and to keep us saved until we meet him face to face.

Isaiah 12:3- "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation."

(1)- A Personnel experience of God's saving grace brings joy.
I can relate to the song- JOY, JOY in my soul today because Jesus has wiped my sins away!

(2)- A Proper testimony creates a joyful noise unto the Lord.
We as children of the living God ought to be the happiest people on earth but you can't
convince most people of it by the expression on our faces.
Nehemiah 8:10- "...The Joy of the Lord is our strength". No wonder there are so many weak Christians. Why can't we put on a smile and show the world how great a salvation we have in Christ?

(3)- A Personnel witness brings joy to the saints and brings souls to the Saviour.
I-Thessalonians 2:19-
"For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?"

John 7:38- "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."

If we as Christians want to live a victorious life, we need living waters flowing from our innermost being and when that happens we won't have to hang a sign around our neck telling others that we are children of God. Scripture tells us that we are epistles know and read of all men. You and I might be the only gospel someone sees as we go about our daily routine.

(1)- Remember Broken cisterns hold no water! Jeremiah 2:13- Romans 3:23.
"We have all sinned and come short of the glory of the Lord".

(2)- Remember that God is the only one who can mend a broken vessel. Isaiah 12:3.
"Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation".

(3)- Remember that wells of blessing come from God alone. Neh. 9:20.
"Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and with-heldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst".

As long as a person remains a broken cistern; he or she will never have the life giving Spirit of God indwelling them but when God mends a broken vessel, you can count on it holding water, so let the Lord mend your broken vessel today and accept His Son as your only hope of eternal life. Put aside that shallow well of doubt and make Him your Lord and Saviour. When all this is accomplished we can look for GOD'S WELLS OF BLESSING.
