about being in tune with the will of God as we journey through this
life. We all know that in order to have a compatible relationship with
another person, we must present ourselves in a fashion that appeals to
the other person. When each of us met the person we wanted to marry, we
put on our best charm and regulated our vocabulary to influence the one
we wanted to share our lives with. We put on our best clothing and
table manners were superb while in his or her company but after some
together as husband or wife things began to change a bit. The real you
emerged like a turtle crawling out of it's shell.
It is only after you know
all of each other's secrets and some
adjustments have been made, are you able to walk side by side through
life in companionship as God intended. Walking in fellowship with God
is much the same!
A WORD STUDY FROM AMOS 3:3 HELPS US KNOW MORE ABOUT UNITY:
(1)- The word
WALK is YAW-LAK' - to proceed. Amos 3:3
(2)- The word TOGETHER is YAK'-AD - in
union. Amos 3:3
(3)- Literally; Can two
PROCEED IN UNION except they be agreed.
At least three
things are required
to Walk in Fellowship with God.
can't walk with God until you
again. A self examination is in order here!

be able in our minds to go back to the time it happened. You might not
have the exact day of the month or the time of the day in memory but
you will remember when you repented of sin and you ask God to
forgive you and to come into your heart to live forever. I am persuaded
that there are many church members whose names are on the Church roster
but absent from God's book of life. I like that old
song that says, There is a new name
written down in glory and it's mine, O' yes it's mine. Friend;
unless your name is with blood stained ink, written down in heaven
will hear Jesus say, I never knew you and for all eternity in hell you

You can't maintain
Christian unity while living in fellowship with the world!
(1)- Born again people should change
2-Cor. 6:14- "Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers:
what fellowship hath righteousness, with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness?"
(2)- Born again people should change
5:11- "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
but rather reprove them."
When you become a
Child of God, your association
the people you once ran with has a change of venue. You no longer enjoy
their company and they no longer want you around because the
Spirit of God living in you makes them nervous and when you begin to
reprove them for their evil ways like Eph. 5:11 states; you most likely
will part ways.
There is nothing that
grieves me more than the ungodly rap music coming
from a devil impressed individual with a demon riding upon every note.
Commercials are now geared to this awful sound and vendors had better
be served notice that Christians don't cater to it nor are they
interested in their merchandise.
Another thing I want to
mention is; all the sexual perversion used in
advertisements. Christians aren't impressed with the sexually implicit
advertizing nor do they
want the merchandise they advertise. We are in this world but we
are not of it
(3)- Born again people should change
personal and mental habits.
(a)- They don't go to the beach to view bikini clad bodies of the
(b)- They don't sit in front of a TV with a six pack of beer to watch a
(c)- They don't use four letter words when they speak!
(d)- They don't flirt with members of the opposite sex!
2:12- "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust,
should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world."
(4)- Born again people should change
Tim. 2:22- "Flee youthful lust: but follow righteousness,
charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
(1)- Make a positive
decision to follow Christ.
The course Christians need to seek is found in God's Word. 1-John
1:7- "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we
have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin".
(2)- Make a
commitment to take or send the gospel around the world.
When this happens; the
great commission is obeyed. My family and I were
members of Dr. Harold Sightler's Tabernacle Baptist Church at
Greenville, South Carolina during Bible College days and we saw what a
church in unison could do with world missions. The Pastor hardly ever
mentioned money unlike many brow beaters but the Church took part in
the support of over 300 missionaries with the
entire Wednesday night offering going to missions. Another thing I am
persuaded that God ordained in that ministry, was that Missionaries
didn't have to come
and put on a show in order to get the Church to support them. All that
was required was for a missionary to drop by the Pastors office and
a few words along with placing a prayer card in his hand; providing the
missionary met all the biblical criteria; most likely support was on
the way. This verse definitely deals with the
WALK AND FELLOWSHIP with
definitive proof coming from congregations of believers who worship in
unison as well as conduct their daily lives in unison. If sin enters
into a believers life; it can be confessed and placed under the blood
of Christ in order for the Child of God to move on in fellowship. Sin
breaks fellowship; confession and prayer restores it.
If you have
examined your heart and know that
sins are under the blood of Christ, your next step is to choose your
friends wisely. Link up with a body of believers who mean business for
God. Your old friends are on the way out anyway unless they like
yourself, choose Christ as their Saviour and Lord. the next step is to
chart your course to get a burden for those
old friends and pray much concerning their eternal destiny and by God's
grace you just might see them become born again children of God.
