Matthew 18:6

My message is about being Spiritually offended.

Matthew 18:6- "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Offend is the Greek word, skan-dal-id'zo from which we get the word scandalize and it means to put a stumbling block or an impediment in the way, upon which another may trip or fall; to cause a person to begin to distrust one whom he ought to trust and obey, to see in another what I disapprove of and what hinders me from acknowledging his authority. It is translated as a scandal and that is the effects of it!

I suppose the hardest obstacle to overcome in a person's Christian walk is to encounter a Preacher or the Pastor of a Church who shows disregard for personal dignity and ethical obedience to God's Word in his relationship with others.

(A)- Preachers that pervert the true gospel.

(1)- Preaching a gospel of works for salvation.
(2)- Preaching that you go to heaven by being a member of a religious organization.
(3)- Preaching a gospel that by-passes the Blood of Christ.
(4)- Women preachers.
(5)- Homosexual ordination into the ministry.
(6)- Preachers who have more than one living wife.
(7)- Pastors who lie to Missionaries about financial support for their ministry.

Galatians 1:6- "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:"
Galatians 1:7- "Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ".
Many main line denominational preachers have perverted the gospel. They will preach you directly into a devil's hell if you follow their teachings.

(B)- Religious practices that can not save offends me!

(1)-One denomination claims that water baptism is essential to salvation.
(2)-Another group preaches that the Pope is the final authority on spiritual matters.
(3)-Another group preaches that speaking in tongues is the evidence of salvation.
(4)-And yet others preach that you are saved by grace but you have to hold out to the end.
(5)-Those who ordain women and homosexual preachers contrary to God's word.

Man made religion makes God sick and quite frankly it makes me sick!
They are going to hell and are taking as many people as they can with them!
Yes; these people offend me!

(a)- Warning about teaching a perverted gospel.
Galatians 1:8-
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

(b)- Second warning about preaching a perverted gospel.
Galatians 1:9-
"As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Accursed is the Greek word Anathema which means: "Let him be damned to hell".

While pastoring a small mission church in Alaska; I preached from the pulpit and on the radio, informing people about the deception of religious leaders who would cause them to end up in hell without God or His Son. I did everything possible to exposed the false doctrine of Transubstantiation taught by the Catholic church and from which that religion depends; "to supposedly go to heaven" That doctrine holds to the belief that the Priest or Bishop has the only authority to forgive sins based on his drinking the wine which by the way is an intoxicating drink and his eating the wafer on behalf of the believer. This false practice is telling  his parishioners the wine is the blood of Christ and the wafer the body of Christ. Many times the church "Father" would become drunken on the wine while making people think it was their avenue into heaven.

When I preached these messages, hell was unleashed against what I was trying to do! I wanted people to see the truth and to be set free from sin before it was eternally too late but the Episcopalian woman preacher responded by writing a rebuttal in the newspaper, saying "The Baptist never did understand the eurochrise"! "How dare Reverend Tyson attack Father so and so",  who resided over the Catholic Church.

After I challenged the people at Wrangell to have separate times for opposite sexes to use the new swimming pool they purposed, the Catholic "Father" wrote and said; "don't pay any attention to what Rev. Tyson said; go ahead and enjoy yourself".

Yes, I AM SPIRITUALLY OFFENDED- by preachers who offer no hope of eternal life in their message and no dignity as to how to live this life separated from sinful practices?

John 2:14-16: Jesus drove the merchandising money changers from the House of God. That is the only record we have of our Lord becoming so angry as to literally overthrow the tables of those who sold from the house of God. He also made a whip and and struck them with it while they went about gathering up their wares. All of you who think Jesus was some wimp who only talked about love, need to re-examine your position on the scriptures! Likewise Selling wares from the pulpit angers God!

John 2:1- "And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:"
John 2:15- "And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;"
John 2:16- "And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise."

I am convinced that God is equally angry with preachers who sell wares from the pulpit. If you want to sell sermon CD's and tapes or books; a bookstore would be proper but using the pulpit is nothing short of a sinful practice! Some Pastors even sell cruise ship excursions from the pulpit and others sell real estate under the guise, "It is a Christian retirement community". Give me a break! What can we expect next? When did God give us permission to sell that which is sacred and use the Pulpit as a stock exchange?

Financial matters should be discussed, only in special business meetings held separately from the time allocated for preaching God's Word. Many modern Preachers are so carnal that you can't tell them from the world. My family and I have visited churches where they have a kitchen connected to the church. God said in His Word not to use the Church for food, fun or frolic and they who do so will be accountable for it. I see no harm in having a fellowship building separate from the Church but even that needs to be scrutinized carefully to insure you are not drawing a crowd with food while God is left somewhere in the background!

In Matthew 18:10- "Take heed that ye despise one of these little one's; for I say unto you , That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven".
The word Despise is the Greek word- kat-af-ron-eh'o - it mean, "to think little or nothing of".
Missionaries experience this kind of treatment many times in their travels- as we go from Church to Church seeking support for the Ministry. My family and I were invited to present our work and preach for a rather large Church in North Carolina and were received well but at the close of the services, the Pastor stood before the congregation and told the people- "We are about to pass the offering plate and all that comes in will go to The Tysons". I was standing in one of the hallways and overheard one of the Deacons say, "Surely we are not going to give Brother Tyson all this" and the Pastor came out later and told me someone stole the offering while his back was turned. We never go or preach for the money but God will not hold those kind of people guiltless! If you remember the scripture in Acts 5:1-10 where two people promised so much money for the ministry but held back part of it and how God killed the man first because God holds the man accountable for how he leads his wife and family and then God killed his wife for agreeing together to lie about the matter. I believe that principal holds true today and we need to take heed not to make promises we don't intend to keep! Pastors also need to stop calling missionaries, Beggars when they are about the masters business!

Acts 5:1- "But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,"
Acts 5:2- "And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet."
Acts 5:3- "But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?"
Acts 5:4- " Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God."
Acts 5:5- "And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things."
Acts 5:6- "And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him."   Acts 5:7- "And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in."
Acts 5:8-  "And peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, yea, for so much".
Acts 5:9-  "Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out."
Acts 5:10- "Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the  young men came in, and found her dead, and , carrying her forth, buried her by her husband."

Missionaries are often looked upon as mere beggars and this is not what God expects from Christian congregations. We missionaries have no other means of supporting our trip than free will love offerings. We at times, traveled many miles from home and traveled all day to get to a meeting at night and would drive back the same night in order for the Children to be in school the next morning, with the love offering being in the form of a check, which we would then have to drive all over town trying to get someone to honor the check in order to buy gasoline for the return trip. Some of these things are pure negligence but again we say, "these little one's have been despised" (thought little or nothing of). Every missionary has hundreds of these kinds of stories to tell and the Church with it's Pastors need to recognize the situation these mission personnel face as they travel thousands of miles to meetings.

(3)- THERE IS A WITNESS IN HEAVEN WHO NOTIFIES GOD HOW HIS LITTLE ONE'S ARE BEING TREATED! Matthew 18:10- "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little one's; for I say unto you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven".
In Matthew 18:10-
the Greek word for angels is- ang'el-os -and it means an envoy, one who is sent, a messenger from God. This brings to light that those things which were done to missionaries which did not bring honor to God will be remembered in heaven with an angel to testify to the facts.

(1)- To seek and to bring salvation to the lost on the home front.
Matthew 18:11- "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost".

(2)- To send missionaries to the ends of the earth to witness to and convert the lost.
Mark 16:15- "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature".

(3)- To teach converts to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord.
Matthew 28:20- "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you":
Matthew 18:11- "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
Matthew 18:14- "Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish".

It is the will of God that the gospel be preached in all the world and for every one to be saved!
1Peter 3:9- " The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance".

1- Preaching a perverted gospel that does not correspond with God's word.

2- Making Merchandise of God's house for financial gain.

3- Lying to Missionaries about financial support for their ministry.

4- I am offended by those who failed to recognize what the mission of the Church is.

5- I am offended by  mission support being held back.

5- things are needed to correct the problem.

1- Salvation for preachers who preach a perverted gospel.
Then the Holy Spirit of God can reveal to them what to preach. Grace through faith with nothing added or removed is the only hope of eternal life for anyone.

2- Preaching the truth from God's word without compromise.

3- Telling missionaries the truth while doing what is promised.
If they don't have the means to do something; God expects them to be honest and tell the truth. There is no obligation until the promise is made but when it is made; God will not forget it.

4- Get a burden for the lost both at home an on the mission field!

5- Quit holding back Missionary support.
Every one needs to get away from that cold dead ritual you are bogged down in and get some zeal in your life for the cause of Christ!
