Psalms 103:11

Psalms 103:11-
"For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him".

(1)- Heaven is out of reach for the natural man.
Man has
not a telescope strong enough to pierce it's domain, nor an imagination good enough to describe it's glory. John the Revelator was caught up to the third heaven by the Spirit of God and was given an insight into the things which would come to pass after the bride of Christ was received up into heaven. The marriage supper of the Lamb would take place for seven glorious years while the world down here is in tribulation and ending with the return of Christ with His bride to conquer the enemies of God who have spurned his grace. The Church will not experience any of the tribulation in spite of those who hold to various doctrines that place the church in a mid-trib. rapture or a post-trib. rapture. We Baptist hold to the Pre-trib. rapture of the church which the Bible plainly teaches!  Christ shall return with His bride for the Revelation phase of His second coming and will return to to the Mount of Olives and to the valley of Megiddo riding white horses. We will stand by Christ side as he With the word of his mouth slays his enemies who spurned his grace. Jesus will then set up his earthly rule from the newly built temple in Jerusalem. The unsaved dead shall remain in "Hades" which is in the heart of the earth where all those who died without God's grace are held for another thousand years while the Just reign with Christ on earth. After The unsaved dead are finally resurrected and judged according to their works, they are cast into a Lake of Fire accompanied by the satanic trinity where they will all remain for eternity.

(2)- Heaven is a prepared place for born again people.
I want to mention three things:
1- The People.
2- The Place.
3- The Provisions.

Only saved people will be allowed in Heaven.
Revelation 21:27- "and there shall in no wise inter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life".
What about you? Are you going to heaven?
Is your name written in the book of life?
You must come through the blood of Christ to go there!
Col. 1:14- "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins".
If you haven't been through the blood you need to repent of your sins and ask Christ to come into your heart to live forever. Romans 10:9-10 and verse 13.

The redeemed will reign with Christ on earth for a thousand years after which God will burn this present earth with fire and restore it to it's garden of eden glory. While this is in process the redeemed will live in the Heavenly city which comes down from God out of heaven. Many preachers and bible scholors in the past preached that God was going to destroy the present earth and we would live in the new earth only but that is not what scripture teaches if you study the meaning of Greek words carefully. The scripture teaches that God is going to burn up the dross and the impurities of the earth and return it to it's original glory like it was before man defiled it! The scripture tells us that the world is without end, both in the old and in the new testament.
Isaiah 45:17- "But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end".
Ephesians 3:21- "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen".

Revelation 21:1-4 Describes the place Christ has prepared for the church. John was given a view into heaven and penned down these words about what he saw:
"I Saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband". And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away".
Revelation 21:9-27 Describes the physical make up of the Holy City.

1- The Light of it is God's glory.
2- The Gates contain the names of the 12 tribes of Israel.
3- The Foundations contain the names of the 12 apostles.
4- The Walls are of Jasper.
5- The Streets are paved with pure gold.
6- The Foundations are made of precious stones.
7- The Temple is The Lord Almghty and The Lamb.

(1)- God himself shall be the light of it.
Revelation 21:23- "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof".

Revelstion 22:5- "And there shall be no night there; and they need no candel, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever".

1 John 1:5- "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all".

John 9:5- Jesus said, "I Am the light of the world".
We won't need any street lights there.
The glory of God will lighten the place called heaven.

(2)- There are 12 gates with the names of the 12 tribes of Israel written.
(3)- There are 12 foundations with the names of the 12 Apostles of the Lamb written.

The 12 gates represent the redeemed from the old testament and the 12 foundations represent the redeemed from the new testament.

(4)- The walls are of Jasper. (Jasper represents the Holiness of God).

(5)- The streets are of pure Gold. (Gold represents the wealth of a King).

(6)- The foundations are garnished with all manner of precious stones.
The precious stones represent the believers who are precious in the sight of God.
Psalms 116:15-"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints".

(7)- The Lord God almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

Heaven is not concealed from the Church as some seem to think. People often quote 1 Cor. 2:9 and stop short of verse 10 where scripture tells us that The Spirit of God has revealed the secret things unto us.
1 Cor. 2:9- "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him".
1-Corinthians 2:10-"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God".

If we study scripture properly and prayerfully we can get a view of what heaven must be like and put aside all those fears that haunt God's people. God didn't tell us everything there is to know about heaven and there are many unanswered questions but we know it will be a happy place.

3- Is Jesus in Heaven?
Mark 16:19- "So then after that the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God".

1 Timothy 3:16-"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory".

We who are born again desire to be with the one who died for us and some glorious daybreak Jesus will come and receive us unto himself; Jesus told us so in John 14:3 and John 17:24.

John 14:3-"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

John 17:24-"Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world".

4- Can you and I go there?

Only those whose names are written in the book of life will go there.
If you are not logged in, you will be left out. When we check into a hotel we sign the log book to verify that we are residing there. God has a log book called, The Book of Life and you must be registered with Emmanuel's Blood. I like that old song that says; "there is a new name written down in glory and it's mine, O' yes it's mine". If yours is not written down, you need to sign up. Get in before it is too late.

Luke 10:20-"Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

Revelation 20:15-"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Jesus will bring those who died in the Lord with him when he comes for us who are alive at the Rapture phase of his second coming and we will go up together to meet the Lord in the air and we shall forever be with loved one's and with the Lord.

1-Thessalonians 4:14-"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
1-Thessalonians 4:15-"For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep."
1-Thessalonians 4:16-"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:"

1-Thessalonians 4:17-"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
1-Thessalonians 4:18-"Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Someone once said it was going to be a boring existence but I am persuaded that isn't going to be the case. Many of the things we do at the present time will likewise keep us busy in heaven.

Revelation 5:10-"And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." We will be busy keeping God's program in order for the part of the world he places us in charge of. My family and I are so fond of Southeast Alaska that we hope the Lord will see fit to place us there for the duration of the Millennium reign.

(A)- It will be a changed body.
Philippians 3:21-
"Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." We will have a healthy body and one not subject to pain or death.

(B)- It will be comparable with or like Jesus body.
One that eats, sleeps and works. Jesus ate  fish and a honey comb after his resurrection.

Luke 24:41-"And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?" Luke 24:42-"And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb." Luke 24:43-"And he took it, and did eat before them."

(C)- It will be a body of flesh and bone.
Jesus said we would have bodies of  "Flesh and Bone as ye see me have". Our new bodies will experience no more pain. Death will have no more dominion over our new bodies. Sin will have lost it's grip on our minds and our bodies.
Luke 24:39-"Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have".

We will not be Husbands and Wives in Heaven but we shall be like unto the Angels. Even though we are not going to practice marriage in heaven, I believe we will know our wives and husbands and we will have sweet fellowship with each other along with our children.

During our time at Tabernacle Baptist Church there was an elderly lady named Mrs. Turner and when Dr, Sightler would preach on the imminent second coming of our Lord; she would stand, wave her white handkerchief and shout; "Praise the Lord, I am going to see my Husband". She was so in love with her departed husband, whom she shared most of her life with that she couldn't wait to see him again and she knew they would have an eternity to spend together in the presence of our Lord. I like that old song that says;"I want to stroll all over heaven with you". I believe I will be able to stroll all over heaven with my Wife when we both get to heaven and share precious memories of all those sweet times we spent together.

Matthew 22:28-"Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her."
Matthew 22:29-"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."
Matthew 22:30- "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven".

I believe that we will.
1-Corinthians 13:12-
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."

We will reign with Christ for one thousand years on earth as kings and priests. We shall then live throughout eternity with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus without interruption.

We will be so busy serving Jesus Our Lord and worshipping God and singing praises to the One who died for us that we will not experience a dull moment! I believe it could be any day now! Scripture tells us when we see the things happening like we see every time we look at the news; Wars, Rumors of wars, earthquakes, diseases here-to-fore unknown to man coming on the scene with a magnitude the medical profession can not cope with and all the violence on the streets; what can we expect but The Lord Himself to appear at any moment.
