FIRST STEPS FOR NEW BELIEVERS

l- GET INVOLVED.

Get involved with other believers in a biblically sound church. After you are saved you need to follow the Lord in believers baptism to show that you are identifying with Christ in His death, burial and Resurrection. This will show others that you intend to walk in newness of life. Hebrews 10:23-25.

Hebrews 10:23- "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;"
Hebrews 10:24- "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"
Hebrews 10:25- "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

In joining up with other believers you will be strengthened in faith. You will have others who will pray with you concerning things that come up in life. We believe prayer moves the Hand of God.

I strongly recommend that New believers join a New Testament, Bible believing Church that uses only the 1611 authorized KJV Bible. I believe it is God's preserved Word for the English speaking people. I also believe that Baptist rightly divide the Word of God, so I urge you to join ranks with Baptist believers.

2- STUDY GOD'S WORD.

2-T1MOTHY 2:15- "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." If you don't know what God said in his word about many subjects, you will be led astray by off shoot teachers.

3- FORM A DOCTRINAL STAND.

Eph. 4:14- "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;".
If you don't stand for something you will fall for almost anything. Get a handle on what you believe according to what the Bible teaches and know how to identify it with scripture.
2-Timothy 3:16- "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" See my Doctrinal Statement for the major doctrines. You need to formulate a doctrinal position and take a stand!

4- GROW IN GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE.

First Peter 2:2- "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby".
You grow into mature Christians by digesting the word of God in a spiritual sense.

2-Peter 3:17-18 the Scriptures admonish believers to grow in grace and to beware of false teachers.
2-Peter 3:17- "Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness". You will not fall from being saved but from the truth in God's word as you serve the Lord.

2-Peter 3:18- "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."

5- CONTINUE IN SERVICE.

Philippians 3:14- "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
After we are Saved we need to determine what gifts God has imparted unto us and place those gifts into service for the Lord. Some people are placed in the Church for a variety of reasons, like maybe a song leader, A Deacon or some other help for the ministry. See Ephesians. 4:7-15 for Gifts in the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:7- "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ."
Ephesians 4:8- "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men."

Ephesians 4:11- "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"
Ephesians 4:12- "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

CONCLUSION:

I am a firm believer that God expects his born again one's to grow in grace and knowledge of the scriptures and to become adult Christians who mean business for the Lord and make a difference in the life they live!
I am a firm believer that God has a place of service for every believer. It might be some small thing like visiting a nursing home or giving an act of kindness to an elderly person. It might be visiting a hospital room where someone needs a word of prayer or relatives who might need encouragement in times of trial when it seems like their whole world has crashed and you can show them that Christians really care. There are numerous places of service, all of which God recognizes.
