Psalms 89:48

Perhaps the most mysterious thought the human mind could imagine is what happens after we die! I would like to try and answer that question from the Word of God in order that you might properly address the issue as it relates to yourself. Everyone is headed in that direction whether we like it or not.
Psalms 89:48- "What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah". The answer is, that all mankind have an appointment with death unless we are raptured out as born again believers before we die. But what happens to a person after they die? Many think that human death is like that of the animal world where we just cease to exist with the idea that there is no hell or heaven. If you take that approach; you are going to have a sad awakening some day!
Ecclesiastes 3:21-
"Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth".
God breathed into the nostrils of man; the breath of life and he or she became a living soul with a conscience of his or her creator and we must deal with God while we are alive or after we die. I strongly urge you to do it while you are alive!

1- Where are the unsaved dead after they die?

Where do you go if you don’t know the Lord in the free pardon of sin? Jesus answered that question with a story of a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus in Luke chapter 16.

(1)- The rich man died without God’s grace.
Luke 16:22 tells us that-
"In hell he lifted up his eyes being in torment".

(A)- He requested Mercy but it was too late.

(B)- He requested relief from suffering but that was denied.

(C)- He wanted water but that was forbidden.
He ask that Lazarus be allowed to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue from the torment he was in.

(D)- He requested a gospel witness for his family but that was no longer possible.  He wanted someone to go and warn his brothers not to come to that place but he was told that it was impossible for anyone to cross a great gulf that was fixed to bring him water and that his brothers have the scriptures to warn them and if they refused to hear God’s word that it would be too late for them also.
Psalms 6:5- "For in death there is no remembrance of thee: In the grave who shall give thee thanks"? Friend, if you wait until you are in the grave to cry out, it will not make a bit of difference! You are lost forever!
Proverbs 8:36- "But he that sinneth against me (God) wrongeth his own soul: and they that hate me love death".  Friend, please ask God to come into your heart today while there is time! He standeth at your hearts door and knocks and if you will open it unto him and ask him in, he will make you a child of his for all eternity.

Revelation 3:20- "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me".

2- Where are born again believers after death?

(1)- Their spirits are with the Lord.
Ecclesiasted 12:7- "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto the God who gave it".
The new testament scripture in 2 corinthians 5:8 informs us that at death every born again believer is absent from their body and present with the Lord.

(A)- Death brings no fear to them because their spirit is with the Lord.
Psalms 23:4-
"Yea though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death I will fear no evil".

(B)- Their earthly bodies are in the grave awaiting the resurrection.
Romans 8:23-
"And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption to  wit, the redemption of our body".

(C)- They are awaiting the Rapture phase of the second coming of our Lord.
1-Thess. 4:16- "The
dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye and we shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air".

(D)- They are awaiting a new body.
1-Corinthians 15:53-54-
"For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory". At the second coming of our Lord, our spirit will reunite with our bodies which have been waiting in the grave.
Romans 6:5- "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection".

2 Cor. 5:1-2- "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven". This is our new body fashioned like unto Jesus glorious body that will have no defects, no suffering and no pain. Glory to God!

We all have an appointment with death some day and our final destiny depends on what preparations we make in this life. If we refuse to become a born again child of God, we will wind up in a real place called hell where there is real fire and where you will spend all eternity in agony. Revelation 14:11- "The smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever and they have no rest day nor night". You will have plenty of company with every evil person who rejected God’s grace. You will even have the Devil himself to fellowship with while you curse each other! You might consider foregoing all this by accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour today. Ask him to forgive you of your sin and ask him into your heart. He will make you a child of his and place your sins under his blood to be remembered against you no more and your name will be written in his book of life in heaven.
