MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The message today is from
the New Testament book of Jude which has only one chapter with
text found in Jude 1:22- "And of

scripture is a type of the world
can either leave Egypt or die in unbelief and wind up in hell! There is
no middle ground
will not excuse your sin and somehow let you into heaven and even if he

need to become a born again child of God which will make a difference
you are going when you die and your attitude about it in this life!
2- Serving the Lord
makes a difference.
(1)- There is a Crown of Life
testing. James 1:12.
(2)- There is an Incorruptible Crown for keeping your body under
subjection. I Cor. 9:25.
(3)- There is a Crown of glory for faithfulness in the ministry. I
(4)- There is a Crown of rejoicing
for Soul winning.
(5)- There is a Crown of righteousness for telling of Christ second
coming. 2 Timothy 4:8.
crowns to be won by christians, based on how they
lived and served God! Jesus
gave us a good illustration
about this in
the story of Mary and Martha. One chose to
the other was cumbered about with the cares of carnal things. Mary
washed the feet of Jesus and dried
them with her hair which was acknowledging his death, burial and
resurrection. Mary also heard his word and received his word which will
get any old sinner saved! Those whose only concern is about matters
pertaining to this earthly life will be rejected by the Lord just like
Luke 10:38-42- "Now it came to
pass, as they went, that he entered into a
certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her
house". Verse 39- "And
she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus feet, and
heard his word". Verse 40-
"Martha was cumbered about much serving, and
came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has
left me to
serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me". Verse 41- "And Jesus answered
and said unto her, Martha, Martha, the art careful and troubled about
things". Verse 42- "But one
thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good
part, which shall not be taken away from her". What
about you? Are
you going to
give attention to serving the Lord like Mary
or are you like Martha who was
so wrapped up
in worldly things that you
don't have time for the Lord?
winning makes a difference.
Proverbs 11:30- "He that winneth souls is wise".
Those who are
will thank you throughout eternity!
shouldn't be all about one's self!
Jude 1:22-"And of some
have compassion, making a difference". The Greek word for compassion is
el-eh-eh’-o which means to help the afflicted, to bring
To execute mercy. When my
family and I were in Bible College in South
we maintained regular
preaching and singing services at an elderly care
facility. After we moved to Southeast Alaska where I pastored a small
church; we also had preaching and
singing services at the local Hospital's Elderly care facility. We
tried to make a difference and God will bless you for having
those who need mercy.
1:27 tells us that "Pure
before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and the
their affliction". What we do for others
will bring glory to God and will make a difference in the lives of
those we help along with giving us a sense of accomplishment for the
cause of Christ.
4- Defending the
gospel makes a difference.
that I am set for
the defense of the gospel"
which means that we should know what God said in his word and make
every effort to support that truth. The Greek for defense is ap-ol-og-ee'-ah from which we
get the word apologetics and that means a reasoned statement or
argument for biblical truth.
(A)- Don't remain a baby christian for the rest of your life.
1 Cor. 3:1- "And I, brethren,
could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as
unto babes in Christ".
In the early new
testament church the Apostle Paul addressed the issue with many
frustrations from people who remained babes in Christ when they should
have been studying God's word and establishing a doctrinal position
that they could use to teach others.
Jude 1:20- "But
building up yourselves
on your most holy
faith". Which means to become
mature Christians. God
want's us to know where we stand and
stand on what we know!
3:16- "All scripture is
inspiration of God and
Scripture is profitable
for 4 things:
are the primary doctrines we need to remember?
The Doctrine of
Soterology is the doctrine of salvation and it has
(A)- The doctrine of salvation
introduces us to the blood of Christ.
Revelation 5:9- "And
redeemed us to God by thy blood".
(B)- The doctrine of salvation is
God's grace joined
with our faith.
Ephesians 2:8- "by
faith are we saved".
The doctrine of salvation is by
God's mercy without
Titus 3:5- "Not
by works of
righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved
(2)- The Doctrine of Eternal
1:5- "We are kept
by the power of God
through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time".
If it were kept by you and I it would
be worthless because we don't have the power to keep it.
(3)- The Doctrine of
second coming of Christ.
John 14:3- "He will come again
to receive his own unto himself that where he is we will be also". This is the hope of every child
and whether we be alive or in the grave at his coming, the results will
be the same.
5- Our Christian Legacy Makes

Soul winning Is part of our legacy.
Jude 1:23- "pulling
sinners out of the fire"- Soul winning is the answer.
separation from worldliness Is part of our legacy.
Jude 1:23- "Hating even the
garments spotted by the flesh".
(2)- Our life style is
part of our legacy.
Jude 1:23- "hating

Joyful Promotion someday.
We need to let
people know we are God's
child and we are convinced that heaven is going to be your eternal
home. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:12- " I know whom I have believed, and am
persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him
against that day".
that Christ is the one who will present us
Jude 1:24- "Present you faultless before the
presence of his glory with exceeding joy".
The Bible instructs us to watch
for Christ imminent return and to keep our garments clean and
our lamps trimmed and burning.
Matthew 25:6-7- "and at midnight
there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet
him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps".
you making a difference ? Are you concerned for
those who do not know the Lord in the free pardon of sin? Are you
effort to reach them for Christ before it is too late? Are your
spotted with sin? Are you truly born again; Not just a church member or
person who does a lot of good deeds but are you sure that you would
heaven if you died this instant? If any of these questions leave you
God’s directive; you need to do business with God today! If you
you need to repent of your sin and ask Christ to come into your heart
forever. If you are not serving the Lord; you need to put your all on
and determine to serve him from this day forward! If you are not
the unsaved as you should be, you need to get a burden for the lost and
to do everything in your power to get them saved!
